Copyright & Takedown Policy

How we handle images and media

PopCultureDaily.co.uk takes copyright seriously. Our editorial team and the standards desk assess all images and media before publication, following a clear rights-based process. We rely on several legitimate sources for visual content: properly licensed images from stock photography services, official press images and promotional materials supplied by studios, networks, record labels and publicists, embedded public social media posts (with appropriate attribution to the original poster), and original photography produced by our own contributors.

Before any image or video appears in an article, our team confirms the source and verifies that we have the right to use it. This review is overseen by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Daniel Mercer, whose team also checks image attribution and handles rights queries. You can see full details of who manages this work on our Our Team page.

We credit all images and media clearly, noting the source or copyright holder wherever possible. If we inadvertently use material that you believe infringes your copyright, we want to resolve it quickly and fairly.

Submitting a takedown or correction request

If you are a copyright owner or an authorised representative and believe that content on PopCultureDaily.co.uk infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our dedicated copyright address: copyright@popculturedaily.co.uk.

To help us process your request efficiently, please include the following information in your email:

  • The exact URL(s) where the allegedly infringing content appears on our site
  • A clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
  • Proof that you own the copyright or are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner (for example, a registration certificate, a link to your official portfolio, or a letter of authorisation)
  • The specific reason for your request (for example, the image was used without a licence, the credit is incorrect, or the content includes your original work without permission)
  • Your full name, organisation name (if applicable), email address, phone number, and physical mailing address
  • A statement confirming that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are either the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf

Our response

Once we receive a complete request, our standards desk will review it promptly. We aim to acknowledge receipt within two business days and respond with a decision within five business days. Depending on the outcome of our review, we will take one of the following actions:

  • Remove the content entirely from our site
  • Replace it with a properly licensed or credited alternative
  • Credit or adjust attribution to reflect the correct copyright holder
  • Amend the content where a factual correction is needed alongside the copyright issue

We will notify you in writing of the action taken. If we determine that the request does not provide sufficient evidence or does not meet the legal requirements for a takedown, we will explain why and offer guidance on how to resubmit with the necessary information.

Image attribution and the standards desk

All image attribution, rights verification, and correction handling is managed by our standards desk under Daniel Mercer. For any queries about image credits before or after publication, you can contact the team directly at copyright@popculturedaily.co.uk or via our Contact page.
