Editorial Policy

Every article published on PopCultureDaily.co.uk is reviewed by an editor before it goes live. This is a non-negotiable part of our workflow, designed to ensure that every piece of content meets our standards for accuracy, fairness, clarity and relevance to a British audience. Our editorial process is overseen by Editor-in-Chief Harriet Winslow, who is responsible for all publication decisions, editorial policy and content quality.

Editorial review and sensitive stories

Our editorial team follows a structured review process. Each article is assigned to an editor who checks the copy for factual accuracy, tone, legal risk and alignment with our style guide. For routine entertainment news — such as a new film trailer, a music release date or a social media trend — this review is conducted by the relevant section editor. For more sensitive stories, the process is escalated.

Sensitive stories include, but are not limited to: celebrity allegations, legal matters, health-related claims, financial assertions, stories involving minors, privacy-sensitive reporting and any content that raises rights or attribution issues. These articles receive additional review by Daniel Mercer, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, before publication. Daniel also reviews all corrections, source verification and image attribution across the site. This two-tier review system is designed to minimise risk and maintain trust with our readers.

Clear distinction between content types

We maintain a clear separation between news, opinion, reviews, sponsored content, affiliate content and promotional material. News articles report facts and developments in pop culture, film, television, music and digital culture. Opinion pieces and analysis are clearly labelled as such, and represent the views of the author, not necessarily those of the publication. Reviews are based on direct experience — whether a screening, screener, interview or event attendance — and are clearly marked with the reviewer’s byline and the basis for the review.

Sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always labelled. Any article that has been paid for by a third party, or that includes affiliate links, carries a clear disclosure at the top of the page. Affiliate links are disclosed in accordance with UK consumer protection law. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions, and our editorial team operates independently of the commercial team. For full details, see our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure and Sponsored Content Policy.

Article-level transparency

Every article on PopCultureDaily.co.uk includes a byline linking to the author’s profile page, a publication date and, where applicable, a last-updated date. Articles that have been reviewed by a specific editor or by the Standards & Fact-Checking Lead carry an editor or reviewer label. Source references are included within the text, and where we have relied on a press release, official announcement, verified social post, interview, screening or event attendance, this is stated clearly in the article.

If an article is corrected after publication, we add a correction note at the top or bottom of the page, explaining what was changed and why. Our full Corrections Policy explains how we handle errors. We also link to our Fact-Checking Policy for readers who want to understand our verification process in more detail.

Experience signals and attribution

We believe readers deserve to know the basis for our coverage. Articles state whether the information comes from a screening, screener, interview, event attendance, press conference, official announcement or verified social post. This is particularly important for reviews and first-look pieces. All content is attributed to named writers, and we do not publish anonymous or pseudonymous articles. You can meet the team on our Our Team page.

Independence and funding

PopCultureDaily.co.uk is operated by Britannia Culture Media Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, content licensing and event or media partnerships. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed. Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationship. For more detail, see our Ownership & Funding page.

AI and automation

We use digital tools to support research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headlines, summaries, transcription and review. However, all published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Our full AI & Automation Policy explains how we use these tools responsibly.

Complaints and accountability

If you believe we have made an error, published something inaccurate or breached our editorial standards, we want to hear from you. Please see our Complaints Procedure for details on how to raise a concern. We take all complaints seriously and respond promptly.

This Editorial Policy is reviewed regularly and updated as needed. It forms part of our commitment to transparency, accuracy and trust with our readers. For more about who we are and how we work, visit our About Us page.
